I have left the old patina on it as I feel it adds to the value in these type of pieces. Remember these pieces are OLD and when they are all shined up or have NO patina on them in takes awau from their value. If the piece is a usable piece collectors want to see the proper usage wear on the piece. They do not want to see dents on dings or broken pieces. This is exactly what they want to see.
